“SONINHO” Emerson Royal (24) has given Son Heung-min (31) a Brazilian nickname.
On March 3 (KST), Royal posted a video of himself and Son Heung-min together on social media. They were on a Tottenham team bus when Royal called out to Son, who greeted him by making an O with his fingers. Royal did the same gesture.
The text underneath caught our eye. “Well done, Soninho,” he wrote. The Brazilian player gave the South Korean player a Brazilian nickname. In Brazil, people often add -inho to their names. 메이저놀이터
A typical example is Ronaldinho (43). His real name is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira. However, before he became a soccer player, he played under the name Ronaldinho, with the inho after his name, because his brother Ronaldo (46) was widely recognized.
More recently, Lee has also adopted a Brazilian nickname. Neymar, who used to look out for Lee at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), left a comment on Lee’s social media saying “Kanginho”. It was a confirmation of their bromance.
Neymar’s time with Lee was short-lived. Neymar left PSG for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal just before the start of the 2023-24 season. “Goodbye my son, see you soon,” Neymar said to Lee before leaving for Saudi Arabia.
Son Heung-min started and scored three goals against Burnley in the fourth round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (EPL) at Turf Moor in Burnley, England, on Feb. 2. Son’s first, second, and third goals of the season came within a day of each other.
Heung-min equalized in the 11th minute of the first half with a right-footed chip from a pass from Manor Solomon. In the 18th minute of the second half, he scored his second goal with a non-stop shot after receiving another pass from Solomon. In the 21st minute, Son scored his third goal off a through ball from Pedro Foro.
Heung-min scored three goals before being substituted midway through the second half. The Tottenham away fans gave him a standing ovation. Tottenham head coach Anze Postecoglou encouraged him. Heung-min sat on the bench for the remainder of the game and watched from the sidelines.
Heung-min has scored hat tricks consistently over the last four seasons. In 2020-21, he scored his first hat-trick against Southampton with four goals. In 2021-22, he scored a hat trick against Aston Villa, and in 2022-23, he scored a hat trick against Leicester City. Then, in the 2023-24 season, he scored his fourth hat-trick against Burnley.
His three goals on the day were the 104th, 105th, and 106th of his Premier League career. He moved into 30th place on the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list. Just above him are Paul Scholes (107), Peter Crouch (108), and Ryan Giggs (109).
Cristiano Ronaldo (103 goals) and Didier Drogba (104 goals) also broke the record. Ronaldo scored 103 goals for Manchester United. Drogba has scored 104 goals in a Chelsea shirt. Both players have now scored fewer goals than Son Heung-min.
