Seoul E-Land’s new captain Han Yong-soo (33) emphasized ‘dedication’. Han Yong-su, who was appointed as E-Land’s captain ahead of the 2023 season, said in a recent interview with ‘Sports Chosun’, “I want to be a senior and captain who takes action rather than words.”
Han Yong-su, who made his professional debut in Jeju in 2012 after attending Jungdong High School and Hanyang University, joined E-Land in 2022 after going through Gangwon (2018-2019) and Chungnam Asan (2021). This is the first time he has served as the captain in his 11-year professional career. When Kim In-seong, who was one year older, moved to Pohang, he became the ‘most senior captain’.
Han Yong-soo, whose position is center back, said, “When I talk to the players after training, I feel that I have to talk first (I’m getting older).” I don’t do it. I try to set an example with my actions. That’s the only thing I know how to do.”
E-Land failed to advance to the playoffs, which they aimed for, staying in 7th place in the K-League 2 in the 2022 season. Han Yong-soo said, “It’s a big regret. I feel a lot of responsibility for the poor performance. I feel sorry for the fans.” 스포츠토토
After the season, E-Land said goodbye to former coach Jeong Jeong-yong and appointed coach Chung-gyun Park, who took the lead in building the ‘Jeonbuk Dynasty’. Coaches Lee Ho and Jeong Hyuk joined the team and the coaching staff changed drastically. Han Yong-soo said, “Coach Choong-gyun Park seems to be an open person. He communicates a lot.”
Regarding his goal for the 2023 season, Han Yong-soo said, “I will dedicate myself to helping the team promote to the first division. I want to try to play in all games without injury.” After completing the first field training in Chonburi, Thailand in January, E-Land started the second training in Changwon from the 2nd to the 22nd. E-Land will have their opening match at home against Chungbuk Cheongju on March 1st.
